Colombia Senate rejects gay rights bill

Supporters and opponents of bill on same-sex marriage rally in Bogota as senators vote.

The Colombian Senate has rejected a bill to allow same-sex marriage.Seventeen politicians voted in favour of the law but 51 rejected it.

Supporters and those who oppose the bill rallied in Bogota's main square as the senators debated the proposal.

Al Jazeera's Alessandro Rampietti reports from Bogota.
