The legal team of George Zimmerman, the man charged with killing Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, have released fresh evidence about the night the 17-year-old died.

A previously unpublicised video shows Zimmerman walking police around the gated community, in the US state of Florida, where the incident took place.

He was not arrested until weeks after the incident, although he had admitted shooting Martin. The case became the focus of national attention with rallies and protests held across the country.

Al Jazeera's John Terrett reports from Washington, DC.
