George Mitchell, the US Middle East peace envoy, failed to reach a deal between Israel and the Palestinians on renewing peace talks. 

Butthe US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Washington's commitment to moving the peace process forward will not waver, but she said artificial deadlines should not be placed on progress towards peace talks.
