   take on the Taliban

 

In their fight against the Taliban, the Pakistani military is getting help from tribal armies called lashkars. These are armed groups made up of local volunteers.

Lashkars are particularly active in the northwestern region of Dir. Al Jazeera’s Kamal Hyder spent a day with the lashkars of Dir whose assistance is now crucial in the government’s campaign to defeat the Taliban.
