The prime minister of Haiti has appealed for calm, after at least four people were killed in riots over rising food costs.
UN troops battled to control crowds of people who, they claim, were looting shops.

Officials say the protesters set cars on fire and tore down the front gate of the UN base. The UN also says its peacekeepers were shot at.
More than two dozen people were injured and at least nine treated for bullet wounds.

Food prices have soared in Haiti over recent months. It's already the poorest country in the Americas, where 80 per cent of the population live on less than $2 a day.

Prices of rice, beans, fruit and condensed milk have gone up 50 per cent from last year, while the cost of pasta has doubled.
