French hostage feared killed in Somalia

Conflicting reports on possible death of intelligence agent Denis Allex, captured by al-Shabab fighters.

A French hostage has reportedly been killed during a failed rescue attempt in Somalia. One French commando was killed and another is missing.

Intelligence agent Denis Allex was captured by al-Shabab fighters in Mogadishu in 2009.

But there is some confusion, as al-Shabab insists the hostage and missing commando are alive and in their custody.
