Party atmosphere builds in anticipation of football showcase.

Organisers of the World Cup are promising to welcome the world with a spectacular show both on and off the pitch.

Performers are promising to stage a uniquely South African show on Friday, saying they will be "Welcoming the World Home".

The expectations of local residents have also been heightened as the national team aims to fulfil its World Cup dream.

Al Jazeera's Gladys Njoroge has been enjoying the party atmosphere in Johannesburg.
