Civilians caught in the fighting in the Democratic Republic of Congo have told Al Jazeera of atrocities committed by government troops.

The Congolese military claims it is making gains in its campaign to crush rebel groups in the east of the country.

But some of those who have fled the conflict say the army are as feared as the rebels.

Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow sent this exclusive report from the regional capital, Goma.
