US: Donald Trump spends MLK Day golfing in Florida

Trump released a video message marking the holiday, but his recent comments on immigrants from Africa, Haiti and Latin America have reinvigorated accusations that the US president is a racist.

The row generated by the president's words has overshadowed the US holiday dedicated to slain civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr.

Donald Trump has again denied he used a vulgar term to describe African countries as the United States marks Martin Luther King Day.

The president has spent the day playing golf in Florida - a day where community leaders ask for people to step up and serve their community as a living memorial for the dead civil rights leader.

Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports from Washington, DC.
