Germany’s Social Democrats have voted to hold formal coalition talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative bloc.

Germany‘s Social Democrats have voted to hold formal talks about forming a coalition with Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative bloc. Party delegates narrowly approved the step at a conference in Bonn.

Some had argued they should not prop up another Merkel government. The German chancellor has been unable to form a coalition since the elections in September.
