The spokesman for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) armed group, Abu Mohamed al-Adnani, has been killed in Syrian province of Aleppo, according to an ISIL-linked website.
Amaq said on Tuesday Adnani was killed while monitoring military operations in Aleppo.
Adnani was one of ISIL's longest-serving figures, and one of its most senior figures in Syria.
The details of Adnani's death remain unclear.
ISIL, also known as ISIS, controls large swaths of territory in Syria and Iraq, and is fighting Syrian troops, US-backed fighters and other rebel groups in northern Syria, as well as in Iraq.
