Monsoon rain leaves Jakarta under water

Images from Jakarta where the heaviest rain for several years has caused widespread disruption.

The Indonesian capital of Jakarta is reeling from torrential rain which has caused widespread flooding thoughout the city and surrounding areas.

Although heavy rain is expected during January, locals report this is the heaviest rain they have seen in many years.

There are reports of floodwaters several metres deep in places and 20,000 of the city's 14 million population have had to be evacuated.
