On Thursday, Donald Trump accepted the Republican Party's nomination for US President.

Trump won the majority of party delegates during a bitter primary season in which he made building a wall along the US-Mexico border one of his campaign promises, blamed undocumented immigrants for rising crime, and proposed banning all Muslims from entering the country.

More than 2,400 delegates were at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, to witness the billionaire businessman accept his nomination as presidential candidate.

Here are some of the delegates who attended and their thoughts about Trump:

"When Trump was talking about the total ban [on Muslims], he was talking about certain refugees where we cannot check the background. He was referring to Syrian refugees. I'm a Muslim.

"He has reach. His campaign has reached the Muslims and invited us to go to Washington DC."

Tony Samuel, Republican delegate, Indiana

"What he did say about illegal immigration got misconstrued. What he said about Muslims and the temporary ban, it's trying to stop folks trying to do us harm.
"Until we fix the vetting process, there's nothing wrong with that. A lot of those statements got twisted. I have no problem supporting him."
Betty Tom Chu, Republican delegate, California

"I support Donald Trump because our country is a mess.

"We need economic growth and we need security, and he can bring it."

Matthew Feeley, Republican delegate, Guam

"I'm a growing Trump supporter. I'm team Guam. I get behind these guys.

"In the primaries I was undecided, and the thing about Guam is we can't vote but we can help to nominate here, and that's why we're representing today and making sure our voice is heard."

Clifford Young, Republican delegate, California

"About his comments, there's only one person that I 100 percent agree with on everything, and that's myself.

"So you have differences; I'd rather emphasise the positive aspects where we can work together."

Allen Goldstein, Republican delegate, Florida
Delegate to the Republican Party Convention in Cleveland, Ohio [Anar Virji/Al Jazeera]

"I was a Rubio supporter, I was a Cruz supporter when Rubio dropped out, and Trump wasn't even top five with me.

"He is our nominee and I will support him all the way."

Tom Mendenhall, Republican delegate, Missouri
Delegate to the Republican Party Convention in Cleveland, Ohio [Anar Virji/Al Jazeera]

"There were 17 people in that race. He's pulling a lot of people together.

"People are coming out of the woodwork for this. It's not negative. Look at the other side. Look at the ads they're running."
