Indians are voting in the third phase of the world’s biggest democratic exercise. The main contest is between the ruling Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party but smaller parties are expected to do better than in previous elections.

Thursday’s election covers BJP strongholds in western and southern India where religion is likely to play a part in how people vote. Al Jazeera’s Matt McClure reports from Mangalore in Karnataka on issues that concern the Christians there.
