Israel tries to kill resistance leader

A leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades has escaped an Israeli assassination attempt in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.

Members of Fatah's armed faction have been targeted

Some 30 Israeli armoured vehicles stormed the city on Sunday morning and surrounded Zakariya al-Zubaydi’s home.

Occupation soldiers exchanged fire with resistance fighters around the home, seriously injuring al-Zubaydi’s assistant, reported our correspondent.

In a statement, the group said al-Zubaydi escaped. The group is the armed wing of Palestinian President Yasir Arafat’s Fatah movement.
