Meanwhile, US forces arrested on Tuesday morning five Iraqis suspected of being involved in anti-US attacks in the city of Baquba, northeast of Baghdad.
Aljazeera’s correspondent said the arrests came as US forces launched search operations in the city.
The operations come a day after a series of blasts in Baghdad which claimed the lives of 42 people and left 216 others wounded.
