Poland's former president Lech Walesa has warned that democratic advances made since communism ended will be destroyed if controversial reforms to the legal system go ahead.

Lech Walesa, former president of Poland,  has warned that the democratic advances made since communism ended would be destroyed if controversial reforms to the legal system go ahead.

Walesa is one of tens of thousands of Poles who have been demonstrating against the parliament's decision to approve a bill that gives politicians the power to remove judges.
