Portugal forest fire burns 26,000 hectares of land

Portugal’s battle against forest fire continues on many fronts. At least 26,000 hectares of land have already been burned and 64 people have been killed.

Portugal’s battle against forest fire continues with a concentration on the country’s northern regions days after the blaze erupted in the Pedrogao Grande region and spread on many fronts.

At least 26,000 hectares of land have already been burned and 64 people have been killed.

Residents are angry at the lack of planning for this type of disaster and because the national plan to combat forest fires had not been reviewed in years.

Al Jazeera's Catherine Stancl reports from Almegue in central Portugal.
