Border wall, immigration dominates Trump's first year

While the border wall remains a gleam in the US president's eye, he has taken aggressive action against immigrants legally in the US, seeking to deport those previously protected by DACA and other programmes.

Divisive policies were at the heart of Donald Trump's campaign, and they continue to polarise the country - and the world - well into his presidency.

While Democrats and Republicans have tried to find some compromise over issues like border security and the future of young people brought into the country illegally, a general deadlock remains.
