UN: Yemen faces world’s ‘largest food insecurity crisis’

The United Nations says Yemen, which is facing the world's worst case of famine in decades, will suffer more unless the Saudi-led coalition battling Houthi rebels, who are based in the capital Sanaa, allows aid into the country.

The United Nations says Yemen, which is facing the world's worst case of famine in decades, will suffer more unless the Saudi-led coalition battling Houthi rebels, who are based in the capital Sanaa, allows aid into the country.

Food and fuel prices in Yemen have skyrocketed since Saturday, when the coalition's blockade was tightened in response to a Houthi missile attack that reached Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh.

Air and sea ports sit abandoned while citizens express outrage in Yemen. Sanaa's international airport has been completely brought to a halt due to the blockade.

Al Jazeera's Mohammed Jamjoom reports.
