Countries across Latin America have been marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Che Guevara. Several thousand people have attended a ceremony in the Cuban city of Santa Clara to remember the revolutionary fighter who became known for his role in the Cuban revolution of 1959, fighting alongside Fidel and Raul Castro.

Guevara had Irish roots, and Ireland has issued a commemorative postage stamp in his honour. However, there has been anger from some Cuban exile groups over the move.
