Archaeologists in the Gaza Strip have managed to stop the destruction of a unique Bronze Age site - for now.
Discovered nearly 20 years ago, the site offers a glimpse into what life in the region might have been like thousands of years ago - but Palestinian officials have earmarked the site for residential development.
But Ibrahim Radwan from the housing ministry notes, "Gaza is the most populated area in the world" and the need for housing is quite severe. He says it will be necessary to "compromise between the need for housing and the need to respect the history".
Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reports from Gaza.
