Activist - Villca Fernandez
When Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, took office in 1999 he was embraced by many who had felt excluded from the traditional political order. But with the passage of time, some Venezuelans have grown disillusioned, believing that their president poses a threat to freedom and democracy. In a country divided between those for whom Chavez is a saviour and those who fear he is growing increasingly dictatorial, activist Villca Fernandez is determined to speak out, regardless of the risks, even if that means sewing his lips together.
